Londoners or London sticks are a dessert whose recipe is passed down from generation to generation. This delicious dessert originates from Hungary, but is very popular in our country as well. Many people compare Londoners to „žerbo cubes“ because of the combination of crust and jam, but they are still different.

These cakes are ideal for any festive table.

Ingredients:
for the first layer:
– 200g of butter
– 100g of sugar
– 4 egg yolks
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 350g of flour
– grated lemon zest

for the second layer:
– 4 egg whites
– 200g of sugar
– 150g of ground walnuts
– 100g of chopped walnuts

for the filling:
– 5 tablespoons of apricot jam

Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

First, prepare the first layer. Beat the butter with sugar, then add lemon zest, vanilla extract, and one egg yolk at a time.

Finally, slowly add the flour and continue beating.

Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the mixture into it. Bake the crust for about 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the second layer.

In a bowl, beat the egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks form, then add the ground walnuts and mix everything with a spatula.

Remove the baked crust from the oven and spread the jam over it.

Evenly spread the beaten egg whites with walnuts over the jam and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.

Recipes
