JAHORINA – The ski season on Jahorina was officially opened tonight with a concert by Zdravko Čolić.

According to the director of the Olympic Center Jahorina Dejan Ljevnaić, this was an opportunity for everyone to return to the time of the Olympic Games in Sarajevo, when exactly four decades ago, Čolić lent his voice to the mascot of the games, the famous Vučko.

„We are proud of the 40 years since the opening of the Olympics and our goal is to return to the time when Jahorina became the Olympic queen, and the biggest regional star, Zdravko, lent his voice to Vučko“, Ljevnaić told Tanjug.

He emphasized that Jahorina has grown into a modern and completely new ski center, which attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world.

„Jahornina is a completely new ski center with infrastructure works bigger than for the Olympics. In the last five years, we have built two new gondolas, three new six-seater lifts, and five lifts. We have 17 installations and 52 kilometers of trails, whereas during the 1984 Olympics, it had only 15. In addition, 80 percent of the trails are covered by artificial snowmaking systems. The capacity is 32,000 skiers per hour and there is no waiting“, he said.

He added that Jahorina is the only ski center in the region that has a „snow factory system“ that works at plus 10 degrees and guarantees that there will always be snow.

He pointed out that thanks to the modern artificial snow system, skiing on Jahorina began 13 days ago.

According to Ljevnaić, due to everything that has been done, as well as the relationship between price and quality, Jahorina has become an interesting destination, not only for people from the region but for the whole world.

“We have conquered new markets and skiers who are interested in Jahorina, which has regained its old Olympic splendor in a modern edition. This is exactly why three flights a week have been opened from North Macedonia, from Skopje to Sarajevo, and a charter flight from London. Skiers from Romania come to us, as well as from China”, he said.

Ljevnaić says that 17 new hotels are being built in Jahorina.

He mentions that Jahorina is known for its good skiing, but also for its good entertainment. There are many sports events and activities, such as an action in which 100 pairs of skis will be given to children tomorrow.

According to him, new lighting has been installed, so now there are 12 kilometers of trails for night skiing.

The snowboard and sled track, where you can slide uphill for 700 meters, will work non-stop, said Ljevnaić, adding that the season will be full of attractions and good offers.

Ljevnaić, who today officially became the honorary consul of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that he is proud of the opportunity given to him by the President of Serbia, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He emphasizes that he will continue to present Serbia in the best possible way and to connect the two countries.

He adds that he will be focused on children, culture, and sports and that he wants his work to go in that direction as well as in the economic direction – to continue to bring in new companies, especially those from Serbia.

Ljevnaić says that he is proud that the Djokovic family, because, as he says, of his personal acquaintance, invests in Jahorina and reminds that one trail is named after the Djokovics because of everything they do for RS and Jahorina.
